Find It: Edges of forests, along fencerows, and pastures. Its in the mint family so it will have opposite leaves, a square stem and will be very aromatic!
When to harvest (ON YOUR OWN LAND): Harvest flowers when you see them. Dried leaves make an excellent seasoning and replacement to store bought oregano. You can also use it on top of Pizza, Cucumber Salad and more!

The Best Morel Cream SauceThis sauce is lick your plate good!
Ingredients: - 3 TBS Butter - 4 TBS Wild Onion or Garlic Tops Diced - 2 Cups Fresh or dried morels (or other favorite mushrooms) - 3 Cups Heavy Cream - 3 TBS Marsala - 2 TBS Monarda Flowers for topping or adding into the sauce Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat, add in onions and sauté until softened and fragrant. If using fresh morels , add them in with the onions. Allow morels to cook until they release their juices and start to dry themselves. If you are starting with dried mushrooms, you'll need to soften them with boiling water then strain (squeeze) save the broth for other soups later. Once mushrooms are ready, add your cream sauce and Monarda leaves (if desired), simmer for 5-7 minutes, add optional brandy, salt, pepper and Monarda flowers to finish. |
