Rose (Rosa sp.) Parts Used: Flowers, leaves and hips (fruit) Find It: Along fencerows, your yard, and even in the middle of pastures. Birds love to eat and disperse seeds. When to harvest (ON YOUR OWN LAND): You can use the leaves anytime of year for Tea, very high in tannins and great for your heart. Flowers can be used whole for tea or dried for use year round. The fruit of the rose is called Hips. They are extremely high in Vitamin C and are traditionally used for teas in the winter. Store it: Dried leaves and flowers store for years. We love to toss the bright flowers in all our tea blends. Hips can be dehydrated and stored in a mason jar. |
