Primitive Skills Weekend 

June 23-25th 2023

Three day's, Two Nights Camping, Learning Primitive Skills and Feasting! 

In this 3 day, 2 night class you will camp under the stars, learn to build shelter, learn about wild edibles, making fire, make a gourd containers and hike at your leisure! Our end goal is to empower you to utilize the wild around you in ways that benefit your family, life and our Planet. The whole weekend you will be surrounded by nature, learning new skills and making new friends! Wild Food Chef & Educator Rachael West will lead you on multiple wild edibles walks, as well as fill your belly with wild forage for breakfast and dinner! 

For Shelter Building, and primitive skills your instructor will be Bo Brown has been teaching wilderness skills for over 30+ years. He runs First Earth Wilderness School, and is the Author of Foraging the Ozarks. 


The camp will be located on private land on the Niangua River, in Long Lane Missouri. 

You will learn: 

  • How to identify useful wild plants, as well as the ones to avoid 
  • Learn how to build a shelter from things you find
  • How to Purify Water​
  • Basic Navigation 
  • How to Make a gourd canteen
  • Learn about Antibacterial & Antiseptic Plants
  • Learn about plants to use as Styptic Powder (Instant Clot)
  • What plants help use with Insects, Sunburn, Heat and more! 

Plants Covered: Red Clover, Yarrow, Plantain, Pine, Solomans Seal, Waterleaf, Cutleaf Coneflower, Echinacea, Monarda, Spicebush, Pawpaw, Maple, Sycamore, Wild Onions, Wild Ginger, Horsetail, Wild Mints, Elder, Mullein, Japanese honeysuckle, Dandelion, Burdock, Red Raspberry, and More. 

We will also have marked trails, corn hole and horse shoes to toss. 

Saturday Evening ends with WILD Infused Meal (Included) and Live MUSIC by Charlie Becker and Camp-side with Hamburger Cows!!!!
